Soft Tissue Ulcers
Ulcers are caused by a variety of external factors. Soft tissue injury that become inflamed or infected can create an ulcer. Highly acidic, salty or sugary foods can also cause or exacerbate soft tissue ulcers. This can also be a side effect of patients undergoing head and neck radiation therapy or any form of chemotherapy. These sores can be located anywhere on the oral soft tissue gums, cheeks, lips, palate, etc. We can provide numerous minimally invasive treatments to relieve discomfort, decrease size and heal the ulcer.
Xerostomia (Dry Mouth)
Better known as chronic dry mouth, xerostomia affects millions of patients. This disease can occur for numerous reasons, including:
- Genetic predisposition
- Medication side effects
- An after effect of chemotherapy or head and neck radiation treatments
- Dehydration
We can offer a number of therapies to improve health and wellness for those patients suffering from xerostomia. In some cases, improved at-home hygiene and more frequent visits to our office may be enough. Other people need to change their medications in partnership with their physicians. We may also recommend the use of salivation inducers.
